So simple, yet not the same old plain jane boring green beans! A side dish with pizazz.
If you are like me, you have to have lots of flavor in the foods you eat. It definitely makes up for the things you can’t eat. I created this green bean recipe to make the meal a little more exciting. If you don’t have one already, you should get a fresh basil plant for your patio. There is nothing like walking outside and picking the fresh leaves when you are wanting to make a recipe. Fresh is always so much better. Bought some basil at our local grocery store. It came in cellophane, roots and all. Plant it and it grows like crazy! Just don’t let it go to seed or you have to start over. Also, if you need to harvest it all, it is very easy to chop it up and add a little olive oil, put it in a freezer bag and pop it in the freezer. Then you can just break it off a bit when you want to use it.
1 16 oz pkg organic frozen green beans
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp butter
1/4 cup water
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
2 basil leaves, finely chopped
juice of 1/2 lemon
In a skillet, add green beans to oil on medium heat, stir thoroughly.
Stir in the butter, water, salt and pepper and cover loosely, cooking til water is just about gone.
Add the garlic, basil, and lemon juice. Continue cooking and stirring til it reduces to a light sauce.
